Brinno’s time lapse camera was first introduced as early as 2009, and we proudly stand as the very first time lapse solution provider. Around this time, Fosforo, a Mexican videography company, were facing the dilemma of continuing to use DSLR for long term construction recording or switching to another kind of camera. Fortunately, they came across the Brinno camera, and entered a new chapter. We are so glad to hear from a loyal Brinno user with more than a decade’s experience with photography/videography and time lapse recording.

Tell us about yourself and Fosforo.
This is Adrian from Fosforo. Fosforo was created in 2010 and we have been operating for around 14 years. We mainly work with established companies, creating corporate, institutional and training videos, as well as timelapse videos for construction projects.

The beginning of time lapse
One of our clients who manufactures steam management systems and peristaltic pumps needed to build another facility and employed our services to record the entire construction. They had initially planned to document the process in a more traditional way, with videographers visiting the site a few times a week - but, of course, this would cause the budget to increase.
How Adrian and Fosforo use Brinno time lapse camera
-
The decision to switch to Brinno.
At that point in time, no other camera could record for such a long duration. Additionally, using DSLR for time lapse is both expensive and difficult to transport. On the other hand, Brinno cameras made it possible for us to document the construction and stay well within their budget. They are extremely easy to set up unlike other time lapse cameras, which allowed us to improvise throughout the 1.5 years of long recording.
-
What about the big project you are working on right now?
Yes, the Distrito Tec is an interesting case we are working on right now. It’s co-hosted by the local government, the Tec de Monterrey and the private sectors. This project aims to improve infrastructure, streets and parks around these neighborhoods and around the vicinity of the campus and hopes to support the connection between local people and the younger generation.

Why stick with Brinno instead of turning to other camera brands?
We tried using another time lapse camera but it required a lot of extra charging. The resolution was higher than Brinno but the problem was the cost, and there was an additional fee to remove the watermark. Brinno only requires a memory card to save a video and it is easily maneuverable whenever you need to change location. And as for the recently famous action cams, they are just much too expensive for our customers.
Improvising setup of time lapse camera

Suggestions for time lapse beginners.
Always keep in contact with the people who spend a lot of time at whatever site you are recording. This way you can be sure to make adjustments and capture the optimum angles of changes when they occur. The people on site can also help protect your camera from being stolen or broken.
